Planting a micro forest
Our pupils have had an exciting and very muddy time this week as they worked together with the Parish Council and Lancashire County Council to plant our very own micro forest on the parish field.
With over 850 young trees and shrubs going into the soil, the children rolled up their sleeves, pulled on their wellies, and got stuck in – quite literally! Despite the mud, there were smiles all round as every class helped to create a new green space that will support wildlife, improve air quality, and provide shade and shelter for years to come.
Throughout the day, pupils used their science knowledge to identify different tree species, learn about habitats, and understand how trees help the environment. They asked thoughtful questions and showed fantastic teamwork and enthusiasm.
We are incredibly proud of their hard work and commitment. A huge thank you to the Parish Council and Lancashire County Council for providing the plants and supporting this brilliant project.
We look forward to watching our micro forest grow! 🌱🌳
